MANAGING DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
The Company is committed to managing all of its operations to ensure the health, safety and well being of all employees, contractors, visitors, customers and the wider community exposed to such operations. Our vision is to be the best bus operator in London and in this regard we believe that all injuries and industry related diseases are preventable. We recognise that striving continuously to improve our health and safety performance is fundamental to our business success.
The Management Board accepts primary responsibility for health and safety accountabilities and is committed to ensuring all employees play an effective role in the protection of our people, customers, property and facilities. In securing workplace health and safety our promise is to pursue best practice to fulfil our duties with regard to health, safety and well being at all times.
Our objectives are to ensure:
The health, safety and welfare of all employees and others who work under our control.
The safety of the general public who use our services or who have access to our premises or sites under our control.
In pursuing our vision and objectives we will:
- Strive to exceed health and safety best practice as far as is reasonably practicable.
- Maintain and ensure safe working conditions, including the provision of safe plant and equipment.
- Provide training for all employees to enable them to perform their job safely and effectively. This will be enhanced by the provision of qualified supervision.
- Set and regularly review health and safety objectives and targets, and monitor our performance and take action to address any deficiencies.
- Apply and demonstrate a systematic approach to health and safety management to ensure compliance and achieve continuous performance improvement.
- Consult with employees and relevant stakeholders, wherever possible and practicable, on matters affecting their health, safety and well being.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, whilst aspiring to higher standards.
- Foster a culture which empowers and rewards everyone to act and behave in accordance with this policy and accept personal responsibility for health and safety.
- Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibility for identifying, reporting and assessing hazards and eliminating or minimising risks by the effective control of hazards.
- Ensure that contractors and suppliers are aware of our policies, procedures and their health and safety responsibilities in their relationship with the Company.
- Provide appropriately qualified expertise for health and safety activities.
- Provide adequate funds and resources to identify, assess and control hazards.
